Sri Lanka burst onto the international Indoor Cricket scene with a Test victory over Australia in 2002.

They followed this up with a credible Third position at last year's Indoor Cricket World Cup. And all this from a country which has only been playing the game for a few years.

For those who have not seen Sri Lanka play, a treat is in store. The Sri Lankans at the World Cup were a dynamic, athletic, very skilled unit. They were in no way intimidated by any team, and seemed possessed of the belief that they could beat anyone. Their fielding was highly energetic, with the antics of their off-side front-half fielders a highlight. Coupled with some excellent bowling, this was a team that others may have good reason to fear at the next World Cup (in Sri Lanka next year). If their Over 35 Men are cast from the same mould, the coming competition has been greatly enhanced by their inclusion.

However, with only one player with World Cup experience (Lyndon Hannibal), the remainder of their squad is an unknown quantity as far as their experience of top-level competition. Lyndon was one of the stars of the World Cup, so he brings a wealth of recent experience, but at the moment we know nothing of the others in the squad . . . except for Tour Manager Hiran De Mel. Hiran is becoming very experienced at travelling to New Zealand--he umpired at last year's World Cup.

Of course, similarly vague sentiments about Sri Lanka's chances were being expressed just before last year's World Cup . . . . so we'll stick with our top-three prediction for the time being. Now, who are the two teams who are going to finish below Sri Lanka ? ?
