Game 5 Over 35 Men England v Sri Lanka Any comments on our coverage? Please take a couple of minutes to leave some of your thoughts in our GUESTBOOK Photos of this game will be available Wednesday afternoon. Sri Lanka's first outing, but England have already lost comprehensively to Australia earlier today. If either team is going to feature in the finals, they would almost certainly need to record a good victory here. Sri Lanka are batting first and have just made their way onto the court. Rene Robinson from South Africa makes her umpiring debut for the tournament in this game. And they are off to a flying start. 31 runs after just 2 overs. The brakes were applied in the third over, and they are now 36 after 3. England fought back well, but Sri Lanka continued to accumulate the runs at a steady rate--until Lyndon Hannibal unleashed a barrage at the end, posting a final skin of 42 for a team total of 137. England's innings is just beginning, and they're going to have to bat steadily and well to challenge this score. And bat steadily and well they did, recording their first win for the tournament. The Sri Lankans' inexperience cost them dearly in the end, and they will most definitely learn and gain from this game.
Further match report later, if and when time permits--hey, I have to sleep sometime, ok? :) |
