The Under 19 competition is a very difficult one to predict. All teams have very limited exposure to the international scene, so comparisons between them are highly speculative.

This also means no team has much of an idea how they will compare with the others, so all teams should enter the fray with a degree of uncertainty about their own relative capabilities.

 

The most successful team is going to be the one that settles the quickest into playing its best without worrying about how the opposition is faring. This might make this more a competition between the respective coaches and support staff than between the individuals in each team. And as far as the Under 19 Boys goes, we're reluctant to predict which team that will be, especially in the absence of knowledge about so many of each team's players--but we'll stick our neck out and forecast a New Zealand vs Australia final, with New Zealand a good chance of winning with home-town support.

Of course, we are aware it's a brave punter who would totally dismiss South Africa . . .
